I’ve been to the Phoenix Zoo so many times I decided to become a member. I love the atmosphere, the helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable staff, and of course, the animals. The zoo spans 125 acres containing 1,400 animals with 30 species on the endangered list. They have good food, a splash pad area for kids, and a train that travels around the entire zoo. They even have awesome experiences around the zoo such as feeding giraffes, the petting zoo, petting and feeding stingrays, camel rides, and birthday parties. It’s hard not to spend your whole day at the Phoenix Zoo with all of the various activities and animals.
Additionally, the Phoenix Zoo was rated the best zoo for kids in America. That’s why, if you live in the Phoenix area, you should consider becoming a zoo member. There are various levels of membership, all affordable, where if the yearly amount increases, so do the perks. For two adults it only costs $85/year; for a family of 4 it costs $125/year, with children under 2 allowed in for free. As a member, you receive two bonus admission tickets to use any time before your membership is up for renewal. With today’s costs, theme parks, vacations, and even staycations can be costly, but the Phoenix Zoo is a great escape at an even better price.
One of the best features of the Phoenix Zoo is their constant striving for a better zoo experience. If I don’t visit the zoo for a few weeks, they’ve already added a new exhibit or changed an existing exhibit. They’re constantly adding new animals and experiences, and look for ways to entice visitors to keep coming back. For those who want to visit the zoo in the summer but don’t want to suffer the summer heat, there’s Zoo Lights. Zoo Lights is a brightly-colored light show around the zoo for kids and adults. They sculpt animals out of colored lights and when the sun goes down it actually feels like you’re in the jungle; members receive special discounts for Zoo Lights.
Have a birthday coming up? I’d suggest holding it at the Phoenix Zoo. Who wouldn’t love to eat cake in front of Zebras and Wolves? The zoo nestles among picturesque Arizona mountains allowing for tons of great photo opportunities. And if you look closely, you’ll even see wildlife outside the zoo. Goats, lizards, rabbits, and coyotes have been spotted while zoo travelers walk the outer edges. Also, the Phoenix Zoo is perched next to the Botanical Gardens; a beautiful display of Arizona’s natural plants. If you live in the Phoenix area and have kids, love animals, or just enjoy walking around soaking up the sights, the Phoenix Zoo is a marvelous experience at an incredible price.
