Brat Haüs Review

Who: Brat Haüs

What: Authentic German, Biergarten/Restaurant

Where: 3622 N. Scottsdale Rd., Scottsdale, AZ 85251

When: Sunday-Thursday 11 am-10pm, Friday-Saturday 11 am-midnight

Why: Since I moved to Arizona, I’ve been looking for a restaurant that serves classic German food. Real homemade-pretzel-making, imported-beer-serving, outside-terrace-seating, haüs. Brat Haüs resembles all of the millions of Germany’s famous brew houses. The outside biergarten, beautiful wooden seating, family-style dining, German/Belgian beer collection, and hard-on-the-outside, soft-on-the-inside classic pretzel check all the boxes any German food lover would have.

Brat Haüs reminds me of all the glorious foods I had when I visited Germany. The first time I went to the German haven, I ordered their Brat burger. A combination of pork sausage, fried egg, swiss cheese, a homemade bun, and house sauce. The house sauce is an Arizona perk to the classic german flavors. The burger was crunchy and delicious. I paired it with spatzle and a pretzel and couldn’t have been a happier little foodie. The spatzle was fluffy and tasted exactly like what I had in Germany.

After having the homemade crunchy/soft pretzel, the next time I had to order it again. I really tried to convince myself to get the Haüs classic Belgian fries but the pretzel won out. I also have enjoyed the pork schnitzel sliders which were crunchy and traditional. I added an extra kick of their homemade mustard to the bun and bam, flavor enhanced. The Brat Haüs makes all of their sauces in-house including their 6 mustards and ketchup. Additionally, I had a Spaten Oktoberfest beer, one of my absolute favorites.

I definitely suggest having any of of their Belgian or German brews. Another favorite of mine is Hofbrau Dunkel since I am a fan of wheaty beers. Whether you’re looking for a good brew, a good snack, or an awesome overall meal, the Brat Haüs can deliver. When in Scottsdale, check out the Haüs of German delicacies.
